YUKON SCHOLARSHIPS
The scholarships are provided by various organizations throughout Yukon.
In addition to these scholarships, various community groups, religious organizations, First Nations, financial institutions and businesses may also have funding options worth exploring. Your school counselor will have more information as well.
SHAD VALLEY
EMPOWERING EXCEPTIONAL STUDENTS
SHAD is a registered Canadian charity that empowers exceptional high school students – at a pivotal point in their education – to recognize their own capabilities and envision their extraordinary potential as tomorrow’s leaders and change makers. Each year, SHAD provides the opportunity for 700 students from across Canada and internationally to attend a month-long summer program, in-residence at one of our Canadian host universities, focused on STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts & math). There are currently more than 15,500 SHAD alumni including 30 Rhodes Scholars, Top 40 Under 40 & Top 20 Under 20 award recipients, and many other accomplished professionals, all sharing the transformational SHAD experience and able to leverage their SHAD network for life. Founded in 1980, SHAD is based in Waterloo, Ontario, Canada.

ENCOUNTERS WITH CANADA is a unique opportunity for Canadian teens to meet other young people from across the country. Spend an adventure-filled week in your nation’s capital! Check out future career options, discover your country, share your hopes and dreams. For 34 years, EWC has delivered a rich and varied, bilingual program. To date, more than 104,000 youth have lived the EWC experience… now it’s your turn!

Are you intelligent, ambitious and passionate about politics? Are you interested in expanding your knowledge? Would you like to contribute to the future of your community and your country? Forum for Young Canadians offers a fun and exciting opportunity to meet other engaged students. Take part in an incredible week behind the scenes of the world of federal politics on Parliament Hill. For nine months, Forum will support you in your effort to make a difference. You will learn to communicate, collaborate and transform your ideas into meaningful community action. You will meet Members of Parliament, Senators and other important figures in the government and the public service. What are you waiting for?

Yukon sponsors one student per year for a two-year period to attend Lester B. Pearson United World College in Victoria, British Columbia. Applicants should currently be in Grade 11 and will take Grades 12 and 13 at the College, culminating in the International Baccalaureate examination.

Pearson College UWC is a two-year pre-university school (Grade 12 and Gap Year) for up to 200 students from over 100 countries who live, study and grow together at the edge of the western world. We believe that education is a force to unite people, nations and cultures for peace and a sustainable future. Our education is transformational.
The College was named in honour of the work done by the late Canadian Prime Minister and Canada’s only Nobel Peace Laureate, Lester B. Pearson. Prime Minister Pearson initiated the work to found a United World College “of the Pacific” as a way of continuing the promotion of peace and understanding in the world.
Pearson College is one of 15 UWC schools and colleges worldwide.
DUKE OF EDINBURGH AWARD
Any young person aged 14-24 can do The Award, no matter their gender, cultural background, religious or political affiliation or physical ability. An Award is gained through individual improvement and achievement, which means that disadvantaged young people and those with special needs are able to participate fully!
STUDENTS ON ICE
The Students on Ice Foundation educates the world’s youth about the importance of the Polar Regions, supports them in their continued personal and professional growth and inspires and catalyses initiatives, that contribute to global sustainability.
THE CANADIAN CENTRE FOR GENDER & SEXUAL DIVERSITY
This forum invites 85 high school students from all across the country to participate in a week of leadership training and discussion around public health! If you’re on this site, we hope you are considering applying!
This event will take place at the Terry Fox Canadian Youth Centre (1805 Gaspé Ave., Ottawa) from December 6th – 10th, 2016. You will learn to be Health Ambassadors for your communities on topics pertaining to sexual health, blood-borne infections, harm reduction, LGBTQ+ identities and anti-bullying. Additionally, you will be trained on different community projects that you can then use to engage your friends, family and classmates in important discussions about how they can be safer and smarter when it comes to their health!
ADVANCED PLACEMENT
Offering more than 30 courses, the College Board’s Advanced Placement program enables students to pursue college-level studies — with the opportunity to earn college credit, advanced placement or both — while still in high school.
DUAL CREDIT COURSES
What is dual credit?
A dual credit program allows secondary students to take post-secondary courses while they are still in high school. Dual credit students may receive elective credit towards their high school graduation, a possibility they need to confirm with their high school.
