Temperatures and forecasts on the Environment Canada website will be used to make planning decisions for trip travel.
The following are guidelines that will be used prior to starting the travel activity. Decisions may change if a group is already traveling and the conditions change outside of the recommended guidelines.
Overnight trips should be postponed/canceled if the forecasted low temperatures (not incl. wind chill) are -25 C or less.
Travel outside Whitehorse will be postponed/canceled if the forecasted/actual low temperature exceed -30 C (not incl. wind chill).
School groups can walk from Wood Street Centre and do short activities close to heated buildings between -30 and -35 0C (not incl. wind chill).
Trips will be postponed/canceled when outside temperatures are -35 C or colder OR the temp and combined wind chill is -40 C or colder.
