A brief history of ACES and Wood Street Centre The ACES 10 program was created in 1988, under the suggestion of the Minister of Education Piers McDonald for a program to be created that would engage students from all across the Yukon and aim for a positive peer modelling approach. With that in mind, Bob Sharp, Bob Jickling and Joe Jack created the program “ACES”.
The first ACES 10 teachers were Bob Sharp and Jim Boyd who co-taught the program from F.H. Collins school. A few years later, MAD (originally running from Yukon College) and Experiential Science 11 were created.
In 1997, Wood Street Centre was established and evolved to include many other excellent experiential programs.
Literally hundreds of Yukoners have benefited from their experiences in ACES and other experiential programs at Wood Street Centre.
